Rural Roads: Imo Assembly Urges Uzodinma To Fix Emekuku-Emii- Ulakwo Road

The Imo State House Of Assembly, IMHA has drawn the attention of the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to the deplorable condition of the road linking Emekuku, Emii, Ulakwo communities in Owerri North LGA.

The call was made, following the adoption of the motion moved by the member representing Owerri North State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly,Hon.Kelechi Ofurum who stated that if nothing urgent is done on the said  road be

 

fore the rains  fully sets in, that life will be unbearable for his Constituents living in these areas.

Laying more emphasis on the motion, Hon.Ofurum informed the House that the road in question serves as major access road that connects two Federal roads namely, Owerri -Umuahia road and Owerri -Aba road.

He further stated that the road if rehabilitated will help in boosting Economic and Agricultural growth in the area as it serves as link between three large Communities in the Constituency, namely, Emekuku, Emii, and Ulakwo respectively.

The Owerri North Lawmaker, also lamented that the road has become so dilapidated to the point where farmers, school children, the elderly and other users find it impossible to navigate.

Hon. Ofurum also said that the road is also facing serious erosion threat as some part of it have collapsed due to serious flooding which is posing more challenges to farmers who find it difficult conveying their produce to the markets.
