Mbaitoli-born Radio guru and Right Activist, Mazi Chinonso Uba (aka Nonsonkwa) will be among those to be honoured with the 2024 Courageous Citizens Award in Abuja on Saturday, June1, organised by the Nigerian-American Society for Justice and Democracy.
His nomination was made public by the Head of communication of the organisation, Dr Yunusa Tanko in Abuja during a Press briefing.
Nonsonkwa’s nomination was unique because as a journalist, he has always been at the forefront for good governance and protection of human rights of Imo residents.
He contested for the 2023 House of Representatives election for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency and came third against all odds .
After the elections, he began a serious campaign against the rigging patterns of the ruling APC, exposing their methods even before the November Gubernatorial election in 2023.
He has been a target for victimisation, arrest and detention for speaking up against anti people’s policies of the government in Imo state.
Accepting the nomination Mazi Uba, thanked God for the Gift of outspokenness and contentment all these years, even at the detriment of his life God has always shown him mercy.
He vowed to continue the fight against bad governance, injustice and violation of Human Rights , not just in Imo but the entire South East.
