The first day of May this year will ever remain indelible in the mind of the dealers in Medicine following Ugochukwu Ndukwu’s emergence as the New Chairman of the Imo Int’l Market Medicine Dealers Association, Orlu.
The election which started in the afternoon on the above date held at the Fire Service Park with 192 registered members, with 31 members absent and a total of 161 accredited members. It was indeed transparent and peaceful as the election was presided over by the President of Imo State Amalgamated Market and Traders Association (ISAMATA), Chief Ezeanochie Emmanuel C. (Chenco).
Notable persons who graced the event were: HRM Eze Dr. Douglas Okwara ( Okwarachukwu IV, Igwe of Umuna), Eze Sir Paul Uloeme, the former President Imo Int’l Market, Chief Magnus Orlando Nwadike, Chief Ezinwanne Ofoegbu (Sokko Pharmaceuticals) and others.
The members present asserted that the election was free and fair and urged the new executive to be transparent and carry every member of the Association along in truth and honesty.
The newly elected chairman, Ndukwu emerged victorious with a total of 106 votes. Other exco members are:Akanno Ephraim (secretary),92 votes, Osunkwo Uche (Vice Chairman) 90 votes, Alphonsus Ezekulie (Fin. Sec.) 78 votes, Mgbemere Chibuzor (Ass. Fin. Sec.) 57 votes, Ikanne Austin U. (Treasurer) 88 votes, Okonkwo Emmanuel (P.R.O.) 88 votes and Dike Ebere Franklin (Provost) who polled 110 votes.
