Following the recent resignation of former Imo Governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, his Rebuild Imo Movement says its door is open to Imolites who share in its values to join the movement.
Rebuild Imo Movement also disclosed that it would soon make its next political move public.
At a Press briefing in Owerri, yesterday, the Rebuild Imo Movement revealed that notable leaders like former governors and former deputy governors of the party, Board of Trustees, BOT members, former ministers, former National Executive Committee, NEC, members, former House of Representatives members, former state, Local Government and ward officers of the party were among many others who have followed Ihedioha’s footstep by resigning from the PDP in the SRS party.
Statistics of recent resignations from Imo PDP, according to the Rebuild Imo Movement, show that over 85 percent of members of PDP in Imo State have resigned following Ihedioha’s exit from the Party.
It recalled the successes recorded by the party under Ihedioha’s leadership to include the historic victory of the party in the general elections of 2019 when the PDP won the Imo governorship contest as well as four out of the 10 House of Representatives seats, 13 state Assembly seats and one senatorial seat.
Rebuild Imo Movement noted that PDP has in recent times, deviated from its ideals, failed to follow its constitution and have not lived up to expectations as an opposition party.
The group made it clear that it has moved on after quitting PDP, adding that it would continue to play its role in promoting good governance and democracy in the state in particular and Nigeria in general.
