The people of Isu clan under the auspices of Isu Nation Convention, INC, comprising Nkwerre, Isu, Nwangele, Njaba and half of Orlu (or Isu nation area), have declared their intention to contest the 2027 Imo governorship election.
The decision to contest the Imo governorship election in 2027, by INC, was reached at the end of its ‘routine conclave meeting’ held on April 20, at the Ozuruigbo Leadership Centre, Umuorlu Isu in Nwangele LGA.
The meeting was presided over by INC’s President General, Dr. Batos Nwadike(Oyii of Igbo land).
The group said it has observed some political appointments, especially, commissionership positions given to some indigenes of Isu and Nwangele, recently. While Nkwerre, Njaba and half of Orlu (Isu nation area) according to it, “have no commissioners all all.”
INC noted that despite the financial and moral contributions of the people of Isu clan in enthroning some of their brothers, neighbours and “failed allies” as governors and other high national political office holders, Isu clan has allegedly been “excluded, degraded and profiled” as unfit to hold high profile national offices.
INC made it clear that they were no longer interested in commissionership and special advisers positions.
The group acknowledged that their neighbours whom they assisted to climb to the top of political leadership have failed them, and therefore resolved that going forward, sons and daughters of Isu clan, are urged to begin to strategise for the purpose of occupying high offices such as office of the governor, senator and minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
INC insisted that Isu clan was tired of being used as hewers of wood and drawers of water in Imo politics.
