Charter of Equity: Nwachukwu Writes Ilomuanya, Imo Elders Council over 2027 Governorship

…Insists: Owerri, Okigwe zones must pally over issues

A Senatorial candidate for Imo East in the last 2023 general elections, Chief Mike Nwachukwu(Mpidike), has urged the Imo State Council of Elders to include the issue of which zone succeeds Governor Hope Uzodinma in 2027, in their working documents.

In an open  letter to the chairman, Imo state  Council of Elders, His Royal Majesty, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, Chief Nwachukwu pointed out that there was need for serious dialogue between Owerri and Okigwe zones in order for the two zones to work out modalities for the particular zone out of the two, that would take over from Uzodinma in 2027.

Chief Nwachukwu noted that since Orlu Zone has run the affairs of Imo state  in full measure, and would have had the privilege of governing the state for 24 years by the time the present Governor Uzodinma finishes his second term in 2027, the governorship contest  would be left for candidates from Owerri and Okigwe zones.

He reiterated the need for credible stakeholders from the Owerri and Okigwe zones to come together in a summit of 30 wisemen selected  from the two zones, to present their arguments and decide which zone should go first in 2027.

Chief Nwachukwu equally presented facts and figures to buttress the imperative for power to shift to Owerri or Okigwe zones in 2007.
