Mbaitoli: Community Celebrates 2023 Afara Day In Imo …Honours Lawmaker-Ikpamezie

The people of Afara autonomous community have held their 2023 Afara Day also, celebrated their illustrious son representing Mbaitoli state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Innocent Ikpamezie in a grand style, recently.
Speaking during the occasion, the chairman of the ceremony, Chief Eddy Onyema described the event as a welcome development, step in the right direction and thanked the people of the area and the other Invited guests who graced the occasion,adding that it was a huge success and even as he equally commended the organizers of the programme for a job well done
In his address, the President General, Afara Development Union, Barr R .C. Oguebuka stated that they gathered to thank God on how well He led them in the past years and as well, discuss on the way forward in the new year .
The PG also used the opportunity to welcome the guests to the Afara day/reception ceremony of their beloved son and brother Hon Ikpamezie who is representing them in the Imo State House of Assembly.
Mr Oguebuka recalled that barely three years ago, the entire members of Afara Autonomous Community trooped out en masse to receive their son, Hon Ikpamezie as the General Manager, Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) adding, that the position then was an appointment by the Imo State Governor ,Senator Hope Uzodinma and they will ever remain grateful to him.
The PG further posited that the Afara Community is receiving the same person, Hon Ikpamezie as an elected member of the legislative arm of the Imo state government maintaining, that God blessed Afara Community more in 2023.
He equally noted, that the election of their honourable member in IMHA was the election of the entire people of Afara community in particular and Mbaitoli in general.
He further maintained, that the lawmaker has been a man who believes and practices an open door policy since he knew him and has made a difference by giving his constituency qualitative representation.
He however, appreciates the good works of the Almighty God in their community, thanked the traditional ruler of Afara autonomous community, HRH Eze M N Ogu who he stated has been a father to them adding, that the Union appreciates him more for allowing the election to hold free and fair ,by giving them free hand to pilot the affairs of the community .
He equally, commended the leadership of Afara Development Union, the Central abroad, home branch women wing, and youth wing for their various contributions to the community. the chairman of the villages in Afara, the members of the electricity/security committee, who have contributed their own quota for the progress and development of the community.
He also, used the opportunity to ask for more as the community has some challenges starring at the union for execution.
He pointed out that the union needs financial assistance for the actualization, plans to plant security cameras, at all the strategic places within the Afara Community among others as he calls upon the illustrious sons of the community to assist the union in the areas of fund raising for the project.
In his remarks, the member representing Mbaitoli State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon . Ikpamezie appreciated the people of Afara in particular and Mbaitoli for the warm reception accorded him and for electing/re- electing him to the Imo House of Assembly.
The Lawmaker who reassured the people of his constituents that he would not disappoint them but would rather make them proud, solicits for prayer and co((operation as he thanked Governor Uzodinma for his love for the people of Mbaitoli
Ikpamezie thereby enjoined his people to continue to support the 3R mantra of the state government.
Highlight of the event was the recognition of some notable illustrious sons of the area who have made name in football tournament among others to foster unity and peace in the community.
