…Promises to Donate Salary for the upkeep of Indigent citizens, Pregnant Imo Women
By Emeka Nwaigwe, Owerri
Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has called on Catholic priests and clergy in various churches in the state to mobilize their members on Saturday, November 11 to vote out insecurity, adding that the liberation of Imo state from its pitiable condition remains in their hands.
Anyanwu made this call Sunday at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church, Orji Uratta, Lifeline Assembly, Aboha Ohii, Praise Tabernacle Mission, and Overcommers Christian Mission Owerri respectively while addressing members of their congregations shortly after his arrival from Lagos state where he was hosted by Imo community in Lagos.
He said that November 11 remains a day Imo people would not toil with following the level of insecurity in the state, adding that the only way the state could be free from its current economic and social challenges was for the people to come out en masse to vote PDP in the ballot.
“This is the time killing, deceit and mass burial will stop in our state. Go to Okigwe, Ehime Mbano, Izombe, Orsu, Oru East and other parts of the state, the level of panic and apprehension over the unknown is high. During Achike Udenwa, Ikedi Ohakim, Rochas Okorocha, and even Emeka Ihedioha, our state was peaceful, but today, every thing has shattered.”
“It is my kind opinion to let you know that if we must win this mandate, the churches must assist. If our churches come to sensitize the public, declaring genuine people “ghost workers” will stop. Take a look at our state’s economy with special reference to LGA, over 200 billion has be diverted. It is a pity that over three years, Uzodinma has refused to conduct local government election. If there was a constituted LGA administration, about 5000 Imo citizens would have been gainfully employed.”
According to him, “it is terrible that over 2.4 billion coming to Imo state monthly, what has Uzodinma used it for? Any government that has done well does not beg for endorsement or poach people with money. It is time for Imo people to yearn for good governance, the era of following money bags is over. In this coming Saturday, November 11 Governorship election, please come out and vote. There won’t be threat to anyone, any vote you cast for me MUST be protected. No body can ever rig this election. This is a rare opportunity Ndi-Imo have to recover our state”.
Anyanwu therefore promised to donate his monthly salary for the upkeep of indigent citizens, and pregnant Imo women in the state. “This is a sincere vow from my heart. Imo shall be safe again. I feel pain in my heart that a good number of our people have deserted the town, but only if you can come back home to vote for PDP, our problems would have been over” he said.
