The Commissioner, Ministry of local government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon Rubby Emele has commended the Imo State local government workers as she lauded them for their doggedness and dedication to service.
Hon Emele gave the commendation on the occasion of the local government workers summit held at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri as she calls for support for the re- election of Governor Uzodinma come Nov 11. 2023.
The Commissioner however highlighted the numerous giants of the state governor in the area of infrastructural and human capital development including other areas of the state economy adding, that Governor Uzodinma deserves a second tenure to do more in his people oriented projects in the state.
In her address, the Chairman Civil Service Commission Lady Rosemary Izuogu welcome all to the event emphasizing, that history is being made as the local government workforce in Imo state under the aegis of the local government service commission filed out to welcome and celebrate the workers friendly Governor Hope Uzodinma for his numerous giant strides in the state and the local government system in general.
Lady Izuogu disclosed that the local government system in Imo state civil service started in 1976 when Imo State was crated by the then Head of State General Murtala Muhammed, followed by the establishment of the Local Government Service Commission under the local government law
The civil service Commission boss however, highlighted the achievements of the state government in the massive road construction which includes: Owerri- Orlu road, Owerri- Okigwe road and Owerri- Umuahia road among other roads in the capital city, the rehabilitation of the state secretariat, provision of essential amenities, have provided good working environment for the state workforce of which some staff of the local government service commission are beneficiaries.
The Chairman further reiterated, the prompt salary payments with the automated payroll system which has become the innovative and unbeatable asset of the moment, also workers promotions where all manners of workers are given double promotions irrespective of cadre or social inclination, the 13th month salary which has become an annual event, entrepreneurial skills development for the youths and women as well as the special employment among others maintaining, that they had never had it so good with previous administrations as they endorsed the governor as their sole candidate for the forth coming election come Nov 11, 2023.
