The Imo police command have paraded 19 male suspects arrested for various crimitnal cases ranging from Armed robbery, advanced fee fraud, murder, IpOB/ESN terrorism Activities, stealing , receiving stolen properties, unlawful possession of firearms/ammunition and cultism.
Briefing journalist at the command headquarter Friday in Owerri, the commissioner of police, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde stated that these are suspects that are evidentially linked to the respective case against them.
However the CP affirme that in course of investigating the aforesaid cases, a total of 11 assault Rifle including double barrel guns and a total of 25 rounds of live ammunition, were recovered from them.
He also out that some stolen items including one stolen but recovered vehicle, one motorcycle,. Charms, five expanded ammunition, military camouflage, two big iron cutters master keys and two two stolen recovered vehicle.
Also speaking on murder report by Ekwutosi Ogukwe, “m” 60yrs of obolo Nzerem in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State, on 18th August 2023 at about 1825hrs ,the CP said Chukuebuka Ogugu 20yrs “m” was arrested at the scene of crime by detective of the commands state criminal intelligence and investigation department SCIID for shooting his friend Ifeanyi Ogukwe “m” 25yrs all of the same address to death.
Barde stressed that on interrogation, the suspect confessed that he killed his friend but stated that it was not intentional, adding that he was servicing his late Father’s single barrel gun in preparation for usual hunting activities that faithful evening when the discharged pellets hitting his said friend that visited him on the head and chest, thus bleeding to death on the spot.
The lifeless body of the deceased has been evacuated and deposited at the morgue while the gun has been recovered and registered as exhibit. The suspect will be arraigned in court upon completion of the ongoing investigation by the SCIID.
The CP also disclosed that the commands state criminal intelligence and investigation Homicide Department SCIiD led to the arrest of Akolonu Donald”m” 72yrs who was alleged of killing his 35yrs old relative, Achilike Akolonu “m” all from Umuoba in Owerri North LGA of the state, on 1/9/2023 by stabling him repeatedly with a knife at his chest over a minor querrel .
He said the lifeless body of the deceased has since been evacuated and deposited at the morgue for preservation while the suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation. His words, the intelligence led investigation and data tracking analysis by detetives of Owerri area command led to the arrest of notorious and advanced fee fraudster named wisdom maduka “m” 30yrs of Onicha who fraudulent obtained the some of one million four hundred thousand (1’400_000) Via ATM transfer from Miss Judith “F” in the guise of marrying.
In the course of the investigation the accused revealed that his modus operandi is to go after wealthy unmarried ladies promising them marriage and in the process defraud them of their hard earned money . He has a syndicat he uses as parents and in_laws that he takes these unsuspecting young ladies to in his village in mbaise for confirmation of his intention.
On seeing this the innocent ladies will believe he has good intention thus, he will steal their ATM card and withdraw all the money in their account , and fade into thin air, Amazingly, on his arrest six ladies he has defrauded surfaced at the station confirming being defrauded by this same suspect of huge sume of money with the same promise of marriage. But luck ran against his time and he was arrested
One Red Highlander Jeep with Reg No. LLD 54AR he stole from one of his unsuspecting victim Rose Mgbe “F” of cross River State was recovered more so , he has a duplex he allegedly built at Naze with the money he get from his fraud dealings. He has been arraigned in the federal High court Owerri, and remanded in police custody.
