…Ahamba: Orlu Has Subjugated Us For 20yrs
Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP in Owerri Zone have resolved to collectively vote for the Governorship candidate of the party, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu(Samdaddy) in the November 11 election to strengthen the Charter of Equity.
In a special Owerri Zone PDP stakeholders meeting at the Campaign office weekend, Hon Mike Ihenaetu, who is the Deputy Director General of Imo PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council maintained that since the people of Orlu and Okigwe zones had resolved to vote the PDP Candidate who is the son of Owerri Zone, it would be shameful for anyone from the zone to work against him.
Speaking also , Chief Mike Ahamba, SAN charged all the leaders of PDP in Owerri Zone to return to their respective LGAs and canvass votes for the party, adding that by so doing, Owerri Zone will have the chance to occupy the number one position in the state.
Chief Ahamba pointed out that while Owerri Zone had yet to take its share of governance in the state, Orlu zone is working to subjugate the other zones after it had ruled the state for twenty years.
He expressed worry that the younger generation would one day ask them some petinent question over what they did to resist Orlu zone from political dominance when it appeared that the zone was hijacking the entire political affairs in the state.
In their separate speeches, Prof Jude Njoku, Barr Aguwa Anamelechi, Uche Igbokwe, Mike Ahumibe and Hon Henry Onwukwe called on the people of Owerri Zone, irrespective of party affiliations to be part of the victory the people of the state would be receiving in the November election.
According to them, it is condemnable that after the return of democracy in 1999, Okigwe zone has ruled for four years, Orlu zone has taken twenty years, while Owerri Zone is struggling to take even a day at the Government House.
Addressing the party leaders, Governorship candidate of PDP in Imo, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu told them to forgive one another and embrace peace, adding that unity of purpose amongst everyone would make the victory faster and possible.
Anyanwu further stated that he was contesting the Governorship election to restore peace, unity and confidence in the state, expressing anger that if the state is not redeemed now, the generation yet unborn would live to suffer the menace.
The party Governorship candidate therefore assured members of PDP in the state that rigging would never work in the November election, and urged everyone to come out en masse and vote for PDP as their votes would be protected.
In a resolution, the leaders resolved to forgive other members of PDP who worked against the party in the last election, with the believe that they have repented and ready to work for the party in the November election.
Similarly, the Owerri Zone leaders expressed regret on the curses rained against Orlu voters by some selected Traditional Rulers in the zone, and further appealed to the people of Okigwe zone to assist Owerri Zone to realize the mandate, as the zone would also reciprocate the gesture when it gets to their turn.
Among the leaders in attendance include, Chief Mike Ahamba, SAN, Prof Jude Njoku, Barr Aguwa Anamelechi, Barr Uche Igbokwe, Hon Mike Ahumibe, Hon Mike Ihenaetu
- Hon Henry Onwukwe, and Chief Gerry Ogoko.
Others are, Rt Nnaemeka Maduagwu, Hon Chimdi Ejiogu, Hon Henry Ekpe, Hon Chukwuemeka Ebere, PDP Chairmen in the 9 LGAs, women, and youth leaders, etc.
