BIAFRA: Nigeria Police Haunt IPOB Members In Imo Community

…Declare Key Leaders In Okpuala Wanted

Reports say the Nigerian Police Imo State Command has mounted serious surveillance on youths of the State suspected to be known members of the outlawed Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, particularly in the quiet Okpuala Naze community in Owerri North LGA of Imo State.

This followed alleged incessant activities of the said Eastern Security Network, ESN, constituting insecurity of lives and property in the axis.

It was also reported that the ESN, a  military arm of IPOB is fingered to be causing insecurity and mayhem in the Okpuala Naze area in the State.

A release from the Imo Police command revealed that certain key leaders and other alleged criminal elements in the Naze Okpuala axis have been declared wanted, marked for arrest and prosecution if nabbed.

Further investigations show that these  known leaders of the outlawed group are presently on the run, even as the Joint Task Force, JTF, made up of the Army and Police operatives have stormed the sleeping community of Okpuala Naze, burning and setting  ablaze houses and belongings of the suspected IPOB members.

In the build up, among the key Biafra agitators declared wanted are one Bernard Ejiogu, Ibe Ahumibe, Chima Njoku, Akalazu Peters, Echereozo  Christopher and others.

Many natives have however expressed reservations and misgivings on the style and approach of the security JTF in burning houses, shops and property said to belong to the alleged IPOB members.

The condemnation of the JTF has become rife as the families of some of the group’s members are displaced, made homeless following the burning of their homes.

Ibe Ahumibe and Akalazu Peters’ houses were said to have been set ablaze, two days ago, July 22, 2023; rendering the families homeless.

It was further gathered that Ahumibe, his wife, Mrs Chika Celestina Ahumibe and their children, said to be minors had escaped from Okpuala community in Naze, Owerri North LGA since the fateful day of the sad event.

Investigations also showed that the Ahumibe and Akalazu families have conspicuously disappeared from the quiet community ever since.

As at Press time, the JTF operatives are said to be mounting vigilance in the area, hunting all and every member of the IPOB in Naze and the once serene community is said to have gone comatose with most young men having deserted the area for safety.
