A Socio-Political group, Omuma Central Union, OCU, has resolved to mobilize Support for the Imo state governor,Sen. Hope Uzodinma’s second tenure bid, hence it has endorsed the Governor’s candidacy and aspiration.
Motion for the endorsement was moved by President- General of the Union, Chief Kenneth Okafor during a meeting held recently at Oru East LGA Multipurpose Hall, Omuma.
Okafor posited that OCU fully endorses the re-election bid of the Governor because he has redefined good governance through his visible numerous achievements in the state.
According to Okafor, “today, we have gathered from all nooks and crannies to endorse a son of the soil in the person of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma (Onwa Oyoko), the Executive Governor of Imo State, for a second tenure. When Uzodinma started his electioneering in 2019, he came up with the 3R Mantra of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery of Imo State.
Many thought it was a hoax and wondered how this could be achieved, but as fate would have it, he emerged victorious as Governor and without any iota of doubt, he has lived up to his 3R Mantra via his exemplary leadership capacity”.
Okafor said “the level of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery that has taken place in the State since Uzodinma took over the mantle of leadership is second to none. He has demonstrated a high level leadership capacity that has surpassed expectations of his political detractors and this has earned him the best Governor of the Year by Sun Newspapers”.
He added that “in recognition of his sterling leadership qualities anchored on human capital and infrastructural development, we appreciate and endorse a man who has put Omuma in both national, international and global political roadmap. He has put smiles on the faces of Imo people particularly Omuma people who are living beautiful life today. He has made Omuma proud and enviable among Nigerians. He is the toast of Imolites, our political role model;Onwa Oyoko, Onwa Imo. A man who has transformed, reformed and restored Imo State. A man who has left a large footprints on the sands of time, whose contributions towards the growth and success of Omuma shall be a landmark and inspiration to future generations in their quest for a place under the sun”.
The President General therefore reeled out the Governor’s achievements to include “35 kilometers dual carriage way, Orlu/Owerri road, 55 kilometers, Owerri/Okigwe single carriage way, 46 kilometers Owerri/Mbaise/Umuahia road single carriage way, upgrading of Federal University Teaching Hospital Owerri (FUTHO) from Federal Medical Centre,4 sets of Imo trained graduates of medical professionals (Doctors) from Imo State University after a decade. Upgrading of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education to Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education”.
“Dredging of Orashi River for Imo Free Trade Zone at Oguta. Reconstruction of Sam Mbakwe Airport road,
rehabilitation of Runway Lights at Imo Cargo Airport for night landing, recovery of Kingsley Ozuomba Mbadiwe University,KOMU, Ogboko, rehabilitation of Imo State Polytechnic Omuma, rehabilitation of Junctions and decongestion of Traffic System in Owerri Metropolis.
“Double promotion for civil servants after a decade of no promotion, establishment of first ever Imo State Civil Service clinic at Imo State Secretariat, free transportation for civil servants through the free bus shuttle, opening of waterways and drainages with the balloon
technology, completion of MCC road, Muhammadu Buhari way, Orlu/Akokwa road ongoing, Evan Enwerem way, Sam Mbakwe way, rehabilitation of Douglas road, all completed.
“Rehabilitation of Port- Harcourt road, Owerri, Aba road ongoing, all the city roads in Owerri and Okigwe, many completed while some are ongoing, 15 Modern Hospitals in various LGA’s built by ISOPADEC, completed, 7 Multi Complex Courts, completed, reconstruction of Imo State House of Assembly Complex, reviving Umuguma General Hospital, reviving of Adapalm Ohaji, reconstruction of IMSUTH Orlu and her road, ISOPADEC rural development projects,
construction of Oguta, Mgbidi, Omuma, Orlu road ongoing, human capital development programs (Skill Up Imo, IWalUP, One Youth One Farm, Business Grants) among others.
“Rehabilitation of stadium to best international standard, with world class facilities and equipments for indoor games, rehabilitation of Acharaubo Farms centred on reviving agricultural produce, empowerment of over 20,000 teeming youths with adequate knowledge of digital skills and social capital development, recovery of Imo Standard Shoe Industry from Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) after offsetting the debt of N1.6 billion naira, approval for gratuities to be paid to pensioners. The First of its kind in Imo State.
“Recovery and rehabilitation of Eke Ukwu Owerri Market for traders and businesses, recovery of Imo State Water and Sewage Corporation for sustainable livelihood”.
The endorsement was powered by Chief Donatus Orobe (Sariki) for Omuma Central Union.
