The attention of the Imo state government has been drawn to the ecological, security and other challenges confronting the Traders of the International modern Market Egbeada, Ubommiri, who have been assured that they will be adequately addressed within available resources.
The Special Adviser to Uzodimma on Trade, Chief Mrs. Angela Collins Obi, gave this assurance when she embarked on an inspection tour of the market at the instance of Commissioner of Trade and Investment Hon. Simon Ebegbulem, to ascertain the condition of market.
She decried the level of vandalism and theft , the evidence of the use of the abandoned buildings as criminal hideouts, and above all the ecological disaster caused by gully erosion that has swallowed two buildings of 80 shops and about to collapse three more of such buildings.
Obi assured the traders  that challenges bedeviling the market will be brought to the attention of Gov. Uzodimma who would ensure that they will be adequately addressed within available resources as his administration was prioritizing the provision of enabling environment for businesses and improving ease of doing business in Imo state.
She assured them that government would not toil with such a massive  investment capable of employing thousands of youths and keep them from crime.
Responding, the Chairman of the Investors Forum of Imo International Modern Market, Chief Val Osuala, thanked the Governor’s Aide for the inspection of the abandoned section of the market and expressed confidence that the issues highlighted would be addressed soon to enable the return of full commercial activities therein.
