I tuned in to Channels TV News this morning to watch the Press Briefing of the Oil Marketers , and I must say , I was impressed with the Federal Government spokesperson, Mr Dele Alake ‘s communique and the association’s chairperson, Dame Winifred Akpani , she articulated in detail the positive impact of the oil subsidy removal as the means to improve the economy and how it would open other avenues that will help in job creation. And I thought, where has this lady been all this while , these are the sort of technocrats that we need in our government ,to help re shape our country. They are professionals who work in the fields and understand the nitty gritty of how to positively turn things around for Nigerians. We have had eight years or more of all these former government executives, it is time to offer appointments to new capable Nigerians that can come in and apply their skills, we can’t keep talking about changing Nigeria for the better , with the same old people as ministers . If we want newness we have to change the plan , the strategy and the approach.
Mr president, you have started well, don’t derail due to sentiments , rather send these former governors and ministers out of the country as ambassadors, that’s if you want to include them in some sort of capacity. But you have to continue the way you started , which is providing practical policies aimed at improving the standard of living of ordinary Nigerians and by choosing to work with technocrats with something new to offer, you will get there.
Thank You,
