…As youth group fumes over alleged plot by Monarch’s wife to control community
Sequel to the tsunami-like controversy that is threatening to tear Obi Mbieri autonomous community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area into shreds, Chief Godson Onuoha (aka Ashok) who is said to be a major stakeholder and the oldest village Chief in Obi Mbieri, has called on the Traditional ruler of the community, HRH, Eze JN Osuji to come out from wherever he is and address his subjects or alternatively, hold a live press conference that will be circulated to the people.
This, he said, is the only antidote to the confusion, discord, and mutual distrust that his questionable disappearance for 3 years has elicited in the community.
Chief Onuoha while speaking in an exclusive interview with our reporter dismissed claims by those he referred to as fifth columnists that one Martin Iwuajoku, popularly known as Onyeugo, a native of Ebom village is the President General of Obi Mbieri autonomous community, adding that some Miscreants are taking advantage of the Monarch’s long disappearance to cause confusion in the community by signing document and giving directives in the name of the Monarch. This is just to cause confusion, which is their stock in trade.
He said, ‘’as far as we are concerned, Hon Hon. Patrick Emeruem is the duly elected President General of Obi Mbieri for now.
“He was unanimously elected by the people before he was recognized by the state government that gave him a certificate of recognition.
“In addition to that, he has been receiving his monthly stipend from the state government alongside other Presidents General in the state. If this man they are fronting says he is the authentic President General, let him show you his certificate of recognition and evidence of being paid monthly stipend by the state government’’.
Responding to a question, Chief Onuoha said, ‘’HRH, Eze J,N Osuji is still the traditional ruler of Obi Mbieri autonomous community. The meeting at which a decision was taken to invalidate his Ezeship in 2020, was not properly convened, hence whatever that was either resolved or decided at the said meeting is also illegal null and void’’.
The only thing we are saying which to all intents and purposes, is the solution to the existing problem and confusion in Obi Mbieri is that HRH, Eze J.N Osuji should come out from where ever he is and publicly address the people in his own words, give directives and counter those he is said to be opposed to instead of communicating with us through third parties’’.
Mbieri Youth Front, a formidable youth group in the six autonomous communities that make up Mbieri Ancient kingdom, have lambasted the wife of the traditional ruler of Obi Mbieri autonomous community, Lolo Bernice Osuji and her children for engaging in actions and conduct that are causing confusion and disunity in the community.
The group led by Comrade Kingsley Njoku, of Mbieri, comprises of young professionals from Mbieri who are committed to the development, peace, unity and mutual co-existence in the component communities of Mbieri said, ‘’it is not a taboo for a person to be sick because it is a natural phenomena. It is therefore regrettable and unfortunate that some persons who know that the long absence of the traditional ruler of Obi Mbieri autonomous community is causing tension, rancor and acrimony have decided to keep quiet and be economical with the truth. For how long will this hide and seek game be allowed to continue’’.
The group vowed to lead a protest to Government House, Owerri with a view to drawing the attention of the state government to the unacceptable development, which if not properly, addressed will tear Obi Mbieri autonomous community apart with very unpleasant consequences.
They also called on the traditional ruler, HRH, Eze JN, Osuji, to show up and diffuse the tension caused by his 3-year absence, if he is actually alive.
‘They urged the Traditional Prime Minster, (TPM) of the community whom they said has been recognised by the Organization of Traditional Rulers of Mbieri and possibly other statewide traditional institutions to find a way of resolving the crises in the community, to avoid the breakdown of law and order’.
Similarly, when contacted, Chief Ejike Uzoaro of Umuagwu Mbieri also confirmed that the whereabout of the Monarch is unknown to everyone in the community, adding that his absence has created opportunity for some individuals to misinform people and make fortunes from the situation. He added that a community can not be without the checks and balances of effective leadership.
