…Agulanna is deceiving Imolites
…Case adjourned March 3
The member representing Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Bede Eke, has dismissed as false, media reports credited to Dr Albert Agulanna who claims to be the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the February 25 National Assembly elections.
In a chat with newsmen in Owerri,Thursday, Rt Hon Eke said he dragged Agulanna and the PDP to court over the issue of primaries, adding that he and Agulanna were not candidates for the National Assembly elections on Saturday.
Eke hinted that he had earlier warned the party leadership against conducting the primary election outside the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency.
He recalled that recent court rulings have proved that fact.
According to him, Section 84(13) of the Electoral Act was involved by the Supreme Court to sack Jones Onyereri as PDP candidate for Nkwerre-Nwangele-Isu-Njaba federal constituency.
The Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal lawmaker further hinted that the party had on January 25, 2023, ordered a rerun election fixed for January 27, but that the Appeal Court granted a stay for the scheduled second primary. He said the matter was adjourned to March 3, 2023.
Rt Hon Eke therefore described as “deceitful” for Agulanna to allegedly purport that Imo PDP has submitted a name to the independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He also said it was injustice and deceit on the part of Imo PDP to back Agulanna’s claim, despite the Appeal Court ruling.
