…Says: Oye is party’s National chair
A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Okechukwu Emereonye says the party is on ground and still has the capacity to win in the coming elections.
In a chat with newsmen recently, Chief Emereonye who is the Co-Ordinator and member of Board of Trustees, BOT, of APGA United Kingdom, said the party remains the third largest political party in Nigeria and parades state and National Assembly members including a Governor.
He hinted that a national convention of APGA elected Chief Victor Oye as national chairman in 2015, and he was re-elected for a second term by the same national convention.
Emereonye who is the Founder and Chief Executive of a property and Real Estate firm, further hinted that the only the national convention of the party convened by the national chairman, has the constitutional powers to convene a national convention of the party.
He said anyone claiming to be the national chairman of APGA, should be able to explain which national convention of the party elected him.
On the 2023 presidency, Chief Emereonye expressed reservation about the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, adding that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic People, PDP, was a vice president for eight years and could not have forgotten anything in the presidency as to wish to contest Presidency, now.
He said his party, APGA, parades a distinguished Nigerian, Chief Peter Umeadi, a former chief judge of Anambra State as the Presidential candidate.
He stated that Peter Obi of the Labour Party is also credible given the work he did as then APGA governor of Anambra State.
According to him, equity, fairness, justice and competence favour a South Easterner to occupy Aso Rock in 2023.
The Aboh Mbaise-born businessman and politician rated the present administration of APC in the country low on issues of economy and insecurity, citing crashing value of the Naira, high prices of food and other goods and services as cases in view.
The APGA leader also hinted that he was in politics to help change the system for good, noting that he ran for Aboh/Ngor Okpala federal constituency in 2019, on the platform of APGA with a great vision for that federal constituency.
On the performance of the current APGA administration in Anambra State under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Emereonye expressed joy at what the former Central Bank governor has achieved so far in less than one year in office, especially, the employment of 5,000 teachers, solid roads being constructed, among others.
