The multiple award winning author, poet, playwright, humanist, human rights activist and humanities’ crusader, Prof Woke Soyinka, once canvassed that “two factors define a man: your patience/ comportment when you have nothing and attitude when you have everything”.
One man who has pragmatically proved he could handle both lines of fortune and misfortunes excellently is the chairman, Imo NUJ, Comrade Precious Nwadike.
The ebony looking Nwadike who doubles as the publisher of the ever high flying informative and investigative Owerri based tabloid, The Nigerian Watchdog, is a huge asset to humanity and humanities.
One striking fact about Nwadike is his profound but profuse array of professional inclinations which never trickled fortuitously but by well articulated projections.
The Imo NUJ boss stated off as an engineer as he was educated at Faculty of Engineering, Federal University of Technology Owerri otherwise known as FUTO. Moments after being certified an engineer, Nwadike, like Odumegwuu Ojukwu before him, discovered his services and efforts would be more rewarding and meaningful in the area of advocacy and human rights activism. Thereafter, he established The Nigerian Watchdog newspaper which was initially addressed as The Community Watchdog newspaper.
A man of immense respect for standards, ethics, rule of law, due process and constitutionalism, Nwadike applied and got admission to study journalism at the International Institute of Journalism, IIJ, Owerri, affiliated to University of Maiduguri, consequent upon which he got his certification as a journalist. As you read this, energetic, colourful and courageous Nwadike is a lawyer – in – equity.
The import here is, Nwadike is well prepared and armed for all the courses and struggles he has embarked on. He didn’t gatecrash. And he is not a window shopper.
The number one journalist in the state proclaims it to the rooftop for all who care that his has been a case of a golden fish in the water which has no place to hide. For instance, he was the senior perfect at the prestigious Ojike Memorial Secondary School, OMSCS, 2009/10 set.
While still in school, and exploring the business as well commercial ingenuity generally associated with the Orlu mercantile class, Nwadike delved into industry and became one of the youngest industrialists ever.
He successfully established the popular and nationally sought after best designers known as Aba Royal Designs which made progressive waves into Rivers, Bayelsa, Anambra and Imo states.
And in his Orlu Zone, he did not fail to join forces with fellow compatriots in ensuring that the enclave was well protected politically, socially and culturally. Thus, he was, by popular demand, in 2009, elected as the president, Orlu Zurumee Youth Assembly.
In view of his immaculate performance in office and general record of achievements, he easily won a re – election. And it is on record that his administration vigorously campaigned and massively canvased for the creation of Njaba State or Anim State.
As it is well known, Nwadike will be on the ballot, in the colours of the Labour Party, LP, for Orlu State Constituency, in the 2023 general elections.
As he put it, “I am the best among the the candidates contesting to represent Orlu LGA in the Imo State House of Assembly in the 2023 general elections.
“Educationally, I am the most qualified. By zoning arrangement, my clan should have it because it is our turn. By political visibility, I am the most popular and if you are talking about equity, justice and fairness, I am also the man to beat”.
“Let me explain: in Orlu town, there are Isu and Orsu clans. The process goes like this, anytime there is an elected LGA chairman from this clan the other produces the house of assembly member. And nobody goes twice. The serving house member has served his turn and that of his clan, it is now the turn of my clan”.
