Youths of Imo State have been advised not to involve themselves with fake and unidentified group who parades as leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Imo State Chapter, to avoid being defrauded nor used to cause mayhem in the state.
This advise for youths to live responsibly was given by the Imo State Chapter Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Barr. Comr. Ezinwanne Chimuanya Udoka, while reacting to a purported Imo State NYCN elective congress slated to hold on September 9, 2022.
Speaking in Owerri on Monday, Udoka advised Imo youths to ignore such a call for elective congress of NYCN by some persons he identified as fake and unidentified group because NYCN has a well organized structure and duly constituted leadership in both state and national levels, warning that any youth who engages or associates with such a kangaroo persons does so at his or her own peril, alleging that the group is using the excuse for election to heighten insecurity, thereby destabilize the peace of the state, hoodwink and defraud uninformed youths and the public.
“Our attention has been drawn to a purported NYCN Imo State Chapter elective congress billed to hold on September 9, 2022, published on Friday 2nd in Announcer Express Newspaper, Owerri. The council already has a solid structure and a formidable leadership which is legally and constitutionally constituted with committed membership who are peaceful and law abiding citizens who contribute meaningfully to the progress and development of the nation”, Udaka observed.
He reiterated that “NYCN leadership is very strong in Imo State and does not have faction. The council has no other leadership except the one led by Barr. Comr. Ezinwanne Chimuanya Udoka and Amb. Sokubo Sara Igba-Sokubo as National President of the council who came to Imo State with other leaders of the council and inaugurated us two months ago in Owerri. Those calling for the election are desperados who seek cheap recognition and unmerited relevance from the public and the government. Anybody who attends the purported elective congress will do himself or herself no good as he or she may be used to achieve a fraudulent purpose which may be devastating to the society”.
Udoka, who urged the youth of Imo State to remain peaceful, sensible, shun crimes and violent activities, engage in productive ventures to be able to advance better living, reassured government at all levels including corporate bodies and the civil society organizations of the support and total commitment of youths with a view to strengthening development, economic and social prosperity, calmness and security of life and property in the state.
