In the spirit of solidarity and support to its alma mater, the Old Boys Association of Government Secondary School, 1978 to 1983 set, has donated writing desks and tables to its alma mater to enhance educational activities in the school.
Presenting the equipment to the principal and staff of the School, the old boys led by Chief Ike Okereafor who was represented at the event by Engr Obinna Asi, maintained that it has been their culture to assist their alma mater whenever the need arose .
He informed that it was not the first time the set was offering such assistance to the school saying that it would neither be the last even as the group has equally undertaken the responsibility of renovating the school’s library and other assistance that were still in the pipeline.
Receiving the donations from the old boys on behalf of the staff and students of the school, the Senior Principal of the School, Sir Mbah Opara expressed gratitude to the set for giving such items to the school which he said, would go a long way to enhance learning in the school.
Sir Mbah noted that it was not a surprise to him as it has been the habit of the set to always assist the School.
The principal assured the set that the staff and students of the school would never forget the wonderful gesture and promised that school would make proper use of the items and including ensuring that they were safe.
He used the occasion to encouraged other old boys of the school to emulate the step taken by the 1978-83 set in assisting the school.
Meanwhile, the National President of the Old Boys Association, Dr.Etofolam Osuji, has commended the set for always coming to the assistance of the school.
Dr Osuji encouraged others to follow suit as according to him, there was a lot of work to be done.
He referred the school gate which he said, was out of use, insisting that it was a compulsory task that must be taken by the old boys.
The event which took place at the school premises, was witnessed by some members of the set, the Principal, vice Principal and other staff of the school.
