…OCA has written Uzodinma, I’ve been presented to LGA Chairman
…Let’s abide with selection process for peace’s sake
Against the backdrop of the recent call for a Crown Prince to succeed the last Ozuruigbo of Owerri by some youths of Amawom community, Owerri, Prince Charles Ezemurum Anumaku Njemanze has made it clear that he was since 2020, selected as the Eze-elect to succeed late Eze Pharmacist Emmanuel Emenyonu Njemanze, Ozuruigbo V and presented to the then Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council by the Owerri Community Assembly, OCA.
Prince Charles Njemanze, a direct son of Eze Alexius Anumaku Njemanze, Ozuruigbo IV, (Nakwa echeki), disclosed this to newsmen, recently in documents released.
The Prince described the current call for selection of a Crown Prince by some youths of the community, as an act of confusion which has no basis and should be completely disregarded for peace and integrity of the revered Njemanze dynasty.
He wondered how some of those involved in the process that produced him as Eze-elect of Owerri and his subsequent presentation to the then chairman of Owerri Municipal Council by OCA in 2020, would now turn round to purport to have selected a Crown Prince. This, he said has no basis in moral standards.
The prince of Njemanze Royal dynasty further disclosed that OCA had since written the present Governor of Imo state,Sen.Hope Uzodinma on 25th August 2020 about his emergence as Eze-elect of Owerri, where they requested the Governor to issue him a Staff of Office as Ozuruigbo VI of Owerri.
He equally hinted that he had since submitted his Curriculum Vitae, CV, (over 34 documents of his Resume)to the Governor for perusal.
Prince Charles Njemanze revealed that OCA had in their letter to the governor in 2020, also made a request for the government to accord some official status to the village chiefs in Owerri Nchi Ise “to enable Owerri Municipal Council provide for their upkeep” since according to them, there was only one paramount ruler for the community-Ozuruigbo .
Recall that the reported imposition of Eze Peter Njemanze on the community by ex-Imo Governor, Rochas Anayo Okorocha against the tradition and established cultural process for the selection of Eze Owerre, sparked moves by Owerri people to properly select and present an Eze-elect to the state government in accordance with the culture and tradition of Owerri Nchi Ise community.
