The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh has declared vacant the Seat of Hon. Obinna Okwara, member representing Nkwere State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly over defection.
The Move was sequel to a motion moved by Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu, the member representing Ngor-Okpala State Constituency.
Hon. Amajirionwu, while moving the motion accused Hon. Obinna for abandoning his party (APC) for the opposition party (PDP). He urged the House to invoke the Constitution by declaring the Seat Vacant.
The motion, which was not warmly welcomed by some members of the House,was seconded by Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins,past Speaker of the House also the member representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency and later adopted by the house. Meanwhile, the Speaker has ordered the clerk of the House to write INEC for proper action.
You may recall that Hon. Obinna Okwara was among the Six Lawmakers that were suspended by the house led by Kennedy Ibeh.
