Nigerians from all walks of life last weekend emptied into the hilly ancient city of Okigwe Local Government to condole with and join their friend, Engr Paschal Ike to bid his late mother, Madam Christiana Ekwutosi Ike Onyekaonwu final farewell.
The final journey of Mama Christy which began from the morgue of St Anthony’s Hospital, Ubahu road at about 7am with a long convoy, caused traffic gridlock that brought commuters to a standstill for hours within the metropolis.
Before 11am time for the funeral service, worshipers and sympathizers had occupied every available space at the expansive St Mary’s Catholic Pro-cathedral Church to express their affection and love for Engr Ike.
In his sermon, Rev Fr Mbara urged Christians to strive to live Christ-like and impart positively on mankind in order to make heaven.
Furthermore, the priest affirmed that late Madam Ike Onyekaonwu made remarkable impacts while alive and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest in peace.
Engr Ike, who comfortably superintends over the affairs of a conglomerate of Paschal Technical Services and a front-line Nollywood financier cum producer, said the demise of his mother is devastating.
Appreciating his friends for their rare show of solidarity and love for his family, he prayed God to grant his mother a comfortable place in His bosom and his family, the equanimity to bear her demise.
