Speaker, Imo State House Of Assembly: Barr. Kennedy Ibeh
The people of Umuowa Community in Orlu Local Government Area, has paid courtesy visit to the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Kennedy Chidozie Ibe, in his office.
The community which was ably led by a former mayor and commissioner in the state, Ichie Best Mbanaso, said that they came to appreciate the Speaker for the innovations he has brought to legislative process since his assumption of office and also to tender their request to him.
Speaking at the event, the President General of Umuowa Progressive Union, Deacon Freeman Ezike, thanked Mr Speaker for piloting the affairs of IMHA with dexterity.
The PG said that Umuowa ancient Community made up of three communities, has existed for more than 200 years and has remained a single community. He noted that while they remained one, neighbours which probably are not as big as Omuowa have got more than 10 autonomous communities calved out from them.
He told Mr Speaker that more than 99 percent of members of the community and stakeholders are on same page on the agitation of creation of another three communities from the existing one.
He assured that the people of Unuowa has what it takes to run the autonomous communities when created.
Responding, the Speaker thanked Ichie Mbanaso for facilitating the move, assuring them that their agitation for creation of autonomous communities is not out of place
He said that the creation of autonomous community brings government closer to the people. The Speaker who invited Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu, members representing Ngor-Okpala state constituency join at the meeting with the people of the community, said that the creation of autonomous community falls at the table of the newest lawmaker.
Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu was named the House Committee Chairman of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs by Mr Speaker earlier during plenary.
The Speaker promised them success in their request once they meet the required conditions.
