The Attorney General and Commissioner For Justice Imo State , Barr Cyprain Akaolisa has been commended by Imo community for his integrity on the occasion of official presentation of his book titled : Anthology Of African Jurisprudence
Speaking on the theme of his work in Owerri , Barr Akaolisa noted that his work is centered on African life and struggle for cultural values and ethics of society, especially to the lawyers and intellectuals who are been urged to exhume the features of African legal system.
“An understanding of African philosophy of law or jurisprudence must be predicated in an understanding of the African ontology. This is precisely about the beings and forces and their ordering as the underlying principle of human existence in society. An understanding of jurisprudence is oftentimes subjective, being contingent upon individual societal notions of the foregoing and the proper limit therefore “He saidBarr Akaolisa further disclosed that the essence of African’s life is ontology, which means nature and characteristics of Africa.
He called on Igbo jurists to ensure that the special elements of customary judicial systems are not thrown overboard.
Some of the stakeholders that lauded the author for his good work noted that the book will go a long way in helping the future generation.
