Thousands of women and girl-child have been inspired and enlightened in many ways through an inspirational workshop organised by Wewe Network Afrique which was tagged: “Yes She Can” with the theme ‘Breaking Barriers’.
Speaking during the workshop last Saturday at Rockview Hotel,Owerri , the Executive Director of the organization, Hon Adaora Onyechere noted that the workshop is held annually and is designed for African women between the ages of 18-35 to learn from inspirational speakers, showcase their talents, improve their career , business and leadership mentorship amongst others.
She further noted that the organization will empower women with skills and create processes in communities, local government areas and state level where young girls and women will ask questions to influence their ideas.
Hon Onyechere , also the Executive Director of Yellow Jerrycan Save A Child Foundation , maintained that women should not be excluded in issues like governance, politics and policy making, assuring that the organization will appoint cluster head in every community , adding that the cluster heads will be trained so that they will bring feed back on issues concerning women in areas where they are representing.
“We are going to train those cluster heads to bring back feed back on what the issues are concerning women and girl-child in their communities. And those conversations will be taken to leaders of thought so that they will look into the matter and give it attention”.
Hon Onyechere stressed that the workshop will help to influence women’ s ideas, ginger them to deliberate on their rights and roles in their respective communities.
The quest speakers at the event commended the organizers of the workshop. They declared that the workshop will improve women potentials.
The speakers included a United Nations Peace Ambassador, Utchay Odims , Minister for Women Affairs His Excellence Pauline Tallen , Deputy Chief Whip House Of Representatives Rt Hon Nkeiruka Onyejeocha , Hon Happiness Odochi , Mrs Amaka Nnah , AIC Akwarandu , Hon Ezenwa Nwagwu and many others.
The highlights of the event was presentation of gifts and Cash award to some women who presented their business pitch to enable them boost their business.
