The Imo State Auditor-General,Chief Ebenezer Osuji has debunked that he was ever trapped in the net of the Nigeria Police Force as published by one state based tabloid on May 25.
Chief Osuji described the publication captioned, “Imo Auditor-General in police net,as kinsman escape death in office”,as full of frivolities emanating from mischief makers ,urging the public to disregard the said jaundiced report.
He noted that the writer might have been paid by some “black sheep” around him to tarnish his highly earned image. “Journalists should ask questions for fair hearing before going to press. Although, whosoever comes across me must have good stories to tell about me. I would have choose to be silent, but to keep the records straight for the reading public,I was not molested by police, but invited in connection with my nephew,Victor who came and destroyed properties worth whooping sum of money in my working place. And that’s a family matter”, he maintained.
Narrating his ordeal, the Auditor-General told newsmen that his nephew,a 46-year-old,Mr. Victor aggrievedly arrived his office on Monday, May 24, demanding for money for which he told him to come to his house after working hours.
According to him,”Victor insisted that he will not go unless I give him money. At a time,he started vandalizing my office, an action that attracted attention of some workers who came into my office and ordered him out. As if it was not enough,he started raking the premises and incidentally broke front and back wind screens of my vehicle. That’s exactly where he injured himself with the broken glasses”. “Although,he is addicted to a particular hard drug which we are planning to take him to a psychiatric centre before this incident occurred.
That situation made his wife to leave behind three children and ran away. Although, he is already adhering to medication in the hospital “,the Auditor-General narrated.
