A former First Lady, Prof (Dame) Theresa Agbonma Udenwa, has commended the Ladies of St. Mulumba Nigeria, Owerri Metropolitan Council, on their Think Thank Project
Speaking last Sunday at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Parish Mbato,Isu LGA Imo State, on the Conferment of the “Charity Partners(Ome Ogo Award on her by the Ladies of St. Mulumba Nigeria Owerri Metropolitan Council.
The event coincided with the Official handover of the Key Ceremony to their third house, built and donated to Mrs Maria Ajoko of Umuezeofor Umudibi Ekwe, Isu LGA, Orlu Diocese.
Prof Udenwa who was represented at the occasion by the CWO President of St. Mark Catholic Church Parish Umuguma Owerri-West LGA,Mrs Lauretta Adaure Madu (Odera), recalled, how as Imo First Lady between 1999 – 2007, founded the Heartland Child Care Foundation, (HCCF).
She recalled that it was aimed at improving the lots of the down-trodden Women, Children and disabled in the Society.
The foundation, she said is still an active instrument of Economic Empowerment and Poverty alleviation.
She acknowledged, that the Ladies of St Mulumba Nigeria are Successful.
Dame Udenwa who is a Professor of Banking and finance at the Nasarawa State University Keffi,thanked the Ladies for finding her worthy of the Award.
She promised to continue to support them in all their Positive Contributions towards uplifting humanity.
Earlier in his Sermon, Rev Fr Henry Opara, spoke on Communicating through human touch, as, according to him, there could be no greater evangelism than Contributions by the Ladies to build a house for the Widow.
The building, he stated is a direct example of Love exemplified and in true fulfilment of Jesus Christ’s teachings on Oneness
Fr. Opara who also opined that there is no difference between the high and low, rich and poor, saying they need each other.
He insisted that the building will remain an indelible testimony
In an lpaddress presented by the Owerri Metropolitan President, Lady Dr Patricia Obi, She described their outing as a remarkable One, as it is their third “THINK THANK PROJECT” Commissioning and handover.
She described the Ladies of St Mulumba Nigeria as an Association of Wives of Knights of St Mulumba Nigeria and has been functioning since 1978.
Lady Obi excitedly informed that at the last count, they have grown into 9 Metropolitan Council’s in Nigeria, with Act of Charity as One of their Visions .
She thanked everyone present for making out time to identify with them on the occasion.
