Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Mrs Ruby Emele has commended the governor for capturing more civil servants in the recent payment of workers’ salaries.
According to her, this gesture by the governor means that he has a listening ear and is committed to the welfare of not only civil servants, but Imo people in general. She said with the development, a few people are yet to be captured, which is why the noise of non-payment has since died down and hoped that the next exercise would be a “final mop up” to take care of the remaining civil servants.
Emele also commended the governor on the roads he has constructed so far in the state, especially the Federal Secretariat(now Muhammadu Buhari) Dick Tiger and Chukwuma Nwoha roads which were abandoned for years by the previous governnents. ” These roads were impassable before now because they were bushy and erosion prone. But now their successful construction has helped to reduce traffic in Owerri capital city and boosted the economy. Those who had left the areas because of inaccessible roads are now back as there is free flow of traffic now. Motorists no longer have to drive to Control before they go to World Bank or Whetheral road before they access MCC/Uratta road. And this has eased traffic congestion to a large extent.”
While noting that the Interim Management Committee(IMC) chairmen of local governments had assisted the governor in putting the rural roads in order by grading and opening some of them, in addition to the ones being constructed, she assured Imolites that there would be a lot of development before the end of the year in the area of health, education, agricultural empowerment and general infrastructure.
