The Special Adviser on Political Matters to Imo State governor, Dr Batos Nwadike says Senator Hope Uzodinma recovery efforts was in line with the wishes and expectations of the masses of Imo State.
This is even as the people of Owerri West L.ocal Government Area have expressed joy over the ongoing road projects in the area.
They also lauded the governor for what they described as the governor’s nine solid appointments to the LGA that according to them, include two commissioners, special advisers among others.
Addressing the people of Owerri West at the council headquarters, Umuguma, recently, the SA. Political. Matters to Governor Uzodinma, Dr Batos who urged those he said, were still in coma over the Supreme Court judgement of January 14, 2020, to join the moving train of Governor Hope Uzodinma, adding that the Shared Prosperity governmen of Governor Uzodinma has already hit the ground running with over 45 road projects mostly commissioned.
Dr Batos noted that the recovery agenda of Governor Uzodinma was the major campaign thrust of all the leading governorship candidates for Imo gubernatorial election in 2019.
The SA Political Matters further hinted that the quartet of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and Governor Uzodinma all had recovery in their manifestoes.
Batos urged Imo people and particularly Owerri West LGA to disregard what he described as opposition-sponsored propaganda and lies against the governor over the issue of payment of salaries and pensions. He disclosed that the governor’s recovery efforts which he noted, have yielded results with the recovery of two universities notably, the Eastern Palm University ( renamed K. O Mbadiwe University by the governor), luxury estates, land, vehicles and other alleged stolen property of the Imo government recovered under the 3R Agenda of the governor.
He highlighted the successes recorded by Senator Uzodinma in the area the health sector with the repositioning of the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, restoring alleged looted oxygen equipment and over 200 beds as well as the construction of 3-km access road to the institution.
He also highlighted the 54kms Owerri-Okigwe Road, 34kns Owerri-Orlu Road and the Chukwuma Nwoha dual carriage and mega balloon drainage in Owerri as some of the signature projects of the Uzodinma administration.
The governor’s senior aide clarified that the governor has paid over ninety-five percent of Imo workers salaries and even pensions noting that the remaining few would be paid once they met verifications requirements.
Batos also noted that salaries and pensions payroll mafia that according to him, has been sabotaging successive administrations, would have no hiding place in the present administration in Imo especially, with the automation of the state’s payroll by the governor.
Responding, Hon Onyemaechi thanked the governor and the SA Political for the tour and urged Owerri West people to support Governor Uzodinma.
The IMHA Majorly Leader said Owerri West have benefited immensely from the Shared Prosperity government in the state both in appointments, roads and recovery of lands especially, Owerri West LGA lands.
He hinted that Naze-Nekede-Iheagwa Road, Assumpta- Umuguma and road from Ohi community were all under construction by Governor Uzodinma
Hon Onyemaechi moved a motion for vote of confidence seconded by ISOPADEC Commissioner, Hon Tony-Gray Okpe on the governor, said they have two commissioners, majorly leader and many others.
Works Commissioner, Noble Atulegwu made it clear that Owerri West has never had it so good as under Governor Uzodinma.
Atulegwu disclosed that even Owerri West indigenes have benefited from Uzodinma’s empowerment.
He assured that the white paper on recovery of lands must be executed to the logical conclusion. Said Irete-Ndegwu Road also on the table, and called for massive support for the governor.
The SA on ADP, Chief Achonwa Njemanze noted that Governor Uzodinma has ‘ baptised’ Owerri West with about nine appointments. Njemanze popularly called ‘Oyiga’ advised every Owerri West indigenes to support Governor Uzodinma who according to him, has broken records in the LGA.
Oyiga vowel that Owerri West would jealously guide they have gotten from Uzodinma administration.
Eze Lucky Okoro, secretary of the Traditional Institution and Community Policing, Imo State and Chairman of Owerri West Traditional Institution encouraged the governor to continue with his good work in Imo and Owerri West LGA.
Woman of the LGA said the Shared Prosperity sensitisation tour has opened their eyes to understand the true and actual state of things in the state, and urged the people of the area disregard propaganda and support the governor.
The Interim Management Committee, IMC, chairman of Owerri West LGA, Hon Okechukwu Enyioha who was earlier inaugurated by the SA Political in his Office, assured that Owerri West LGA was solidly behind Governor Uzodinma given the special way he said the governor has carried the LGA along.
Also inaugurated on behalf of Governor Uzodinma were the two commissioners from Owerri West LGA, Chief Achonwa Njemanze (as grandpatron), Chief Okpe (as Leader), Lands Commissioner, Hon Atulegwu and Owerri West Imo Assembly member, Hon Onyemaechi.
Dr Batos equally inaugurated about 14 other Shared Prosperity Ambassadors of the LGA with Ogbonna Ashaba as cordinator.
