Leaders and people of Owerri Municipal Council, Imo State, have passed a vote of implicit confidence on the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma over what they described as the emerging return of the era of quality road projects in Imo and Municipal in particular.
This is even as the Special Adviser to Governor Uzodinma on Political Matters, Dr Batos Nwadike while inaugurated Shared Prosperity Ambassadors of Owerri Municipal Council on Wednesday, charged the people of the area to stand strong with Governor Uzodinma because of the plethora of road projects going on the Municipal.
Speaking at the event, the general manager of the Imo Environmental Transformation Commission, Imo ENTRACO, Hon McDonald Ebere praised the shared prosperity sensitisation tour describing it as a wonderful initiative.
Hon Ebere expressed total support of Owerri Municipal Council to Governor Uzodinma adding that they were working very hard to reposition APC in Municipal ahead of the next political season.
In his remarks, ex-mayor of Owerri Municipal, Chief C.D.B Williams noted that Governor Uzodinma is bringing back the good old days of quality roads as was in the days of Ndubuisi Kanu, Sam Mbakwe among others. He chided the past eight years government in Imo for what he called poor quality roads and projects.
While calling on governor to follow the recovery agenda to a logical conclusion, Williams moved a motion for vote of confidence on Governor Uzodinma for his laudable performance.
Seconding the motion, the Owerri Municipal LGA chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon Onyekachi pledged the support of the people of the area to the programs of the governor.
Lady Stella Eke, the LGA woman leader, described Governor Uzodinma as unique leader who she said, empowered those without godfathers.
A youth leader in Owerri Municipal, Charles Ogboko who also hailed the governor on roads, said they have always been with Governor Uzodinma and called for continued empowerment of youths through job creation.
The Interim Management Committee, IMC, chairman of Owerri Municipal, Chief Ambrose Nkwodinma (Abumaleya) thanked the governor for good work he is doing in the area of roads in Owerri Municipal, and pledged their support.
The apex leader of Owerri Municipal and GM ENTRACO, listed other appointments of Uzodinma to Governor Uzodinma to Municipal to include: SA Security, Rtd CP Dan Okoro, SA Urban Development, Hon Amanze v, SSA on Northern Affairs, Hon Suleiman, SSA Northern Affairs (Women), Hon Hamza Fatima, Prince Anozie, Board member, Imo Specialist Hospital, among others.
The SA Political Matters, Dr Batos who had earlier inaugurated the IMC chairman in his office, also inaugurated the General Manager, ENTRACO, Hon Ebere who doubles as SA Sanitation to Governor Uzodinma as grandpatron of Shared Prosperity Ambassadors of Owerri Municipal, including all the appointees of the governor present and about nine others from the Municipal Council and Barr Sam Ejiogu.
Meanwhile the SA Political, Dr Batos used the occasion to chronicle the achievements of Governor Uzodinma to include recovery of two universities (Eastern Palm varsity) now renamed K.O. Mbadiwe University by the governor, recovery of luxury estates, land, government vehicles and other alleged property of the state from a past governor, construction of 47 roads in barely one year, automation of salaries and pensions payroll of Imo State, ending flooding in Owerri with Chukwuma Nwoha mega balloon drainage system, among others.
He therefore announced Chief Williams as the Shared Prosperity Ambassadors cordinator for the Municipal Council
