The management of the Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo has debunked allegation in an Owerri based newspaper that programme of the institution lack accreditation and that HND graduates of the polytechnic are not allowed by the NYSC to participate in the NYSC scheme.
In a release by the Head of Public Relations, Information and Publication Unit, Prince Darlington Oparaocha the institution described the publication as handwork of mischief makers.
He posited that the Polytechnic is not only in good stead with her programmes but equally stressed that HND graduates of the Polytechnic do not experience any hindrance in the call up for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, adding that the institutions HND graduates are currently participating in the Batch A stream while there are above 600 students across the departments.
The PRO assured parents and students as well as prospective students and parents that the Imo State Polytechnic does not run degrees not approved by the National Board for Technical Education NBTE which is a regulatory body of Polytechnic education in Nigeria. He, therefore, pointed out that accreditation of HND courses being offered in the Polytechnic have not elapsed and that accreditation is a routine affair in educational institutions.
He used the release to thank the Governor Hope Uzodinma for making the Polytechnic one of the best in the country and thanked the Acting Rector, Sir John Okechukwu Mbadike who is ensuring the smooth transition and relocation of the polytechnic from Umuagwo to Omuma as directed by the Imo State Government.
