The Catholic Arch Bishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical province, Arch Bishop AJV Obinna has stated that marriage is a serious matter and sacred and so must be always backed with prayers.He gave the advice at Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri Ecclesiastical province while administering sacrament of Matrimony to Mr and Mrs Finian Chinonye Emelumba the son of Hon. Declan Emenuba the Imo state Commissioner of Information and Strategy.
Arch Bishop Obinna also advised the newly wedded couple to always back their marriage with prayers in order to sustain peace in their matrimonial home.
He said that in marriage no one is perfect than the other but has different roles to play to complement one another.
“Couple should be deeper in prayers and anything about God, they must pray together every morning before going to their various businesses. Love, he opined is kind that is why marriage is for better and for worse.
He encouraged people not to allow the bad economic situation and the brutal war ravaging the country to discourage them from getting married, maintaining that people must get married for a better tomorrow.
The cleric also observed that the major cause of marital problems, sometimes is the issue of child bearing in which many a times the husband and the wife blame each other .He therefore, emphasize the need for love to prevail in all circumstances.
The groom, Mr Nnamdi Emelumba in showing appreciation, thanked all who attended the matrimonial ceremony and prayed that the same God that led them to the event will also safely lead them to their various destinations.
The marriage ceremony was attended by many government officials among them are, Imo state Deputy Gov.,Prof.Placid Njoku, the speaker, Imo State House of Assembly Rt.Hon.Paul Emeziem and others.
