Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has congratulated Imo people and Christians across the globe on the celebration of the resurrection of Christ from death.
Sen.Anyanwu charged them to use the period to make peace with neighbours and forgive those that wronged them just as Christ forgave his killers as part of their contributions to herald the epoch event.
Senator Anyanwu further described Easter as a season for sober reflection where Christians are expected to show love to one another in line with the mindset of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Amaimo Ikeduru-born philanthropist also regretted the harsh economic situation across the globe occasioned by the covid-19 pandemic, and prayed God to use the period to grant lasting solution to the menace.
He enjoined Christians to pray against insecurity and bad governance in the country, adding that until God’s children begin to intercede on behalf of their leaders, it would be difficult to celebrate Easter as it ought to be celebrated.
According to him, “Easter should be seen as a time for believers to embark on fervent prayers against any form of threat to peace and unity of the country”.
He appealed to those in position of authority to avoid ethnic sentiment and clannish politics, describing it as a major threat to national development, security of lives and properties in Nigeria.
Senator Anyanwu therefore urged government in all levels to provide conducive environment that would enable businesses to thrive, regretted that Nigeria was going through turbulent times due to ethnic nepotism and bigotry despite enormous natural resources available for her.
