The Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Hope Uzodinma, Dr. Batos Nwadike has hinted that the present administration in Imo State has done a lot to eliminate the humongous corruption in the salary and pensions payroll of civil servants and pensioners.
The SA Political who stated this during the on-going Prosperity Tour of the 27 Local Government Area of Imo State, noted that the automated payment system for pensioners and civil servants in the state has come to stay.
He added that the governor has lived up to expectation in the area of payment of salaries but regretted that corrupt people who feed fat from the bad system collude with opposition to spread falsehood against the state government.
Batos disclosed that in one particular local government area, there were about 77 drivers on the payroll whereas the council had less than 12 functional vehicles. He hinted that most of the workers were relations, in-laws and cronies of politician who governed the state previously.
The governor’s aide said these ugly developments were responsible for the decision of the Uzodinma administration to embark on the automated payment system saying that it was yielding results.
On infrastructure, Batos expressed optimism that the 54 kilometers Owerri-Okigwe Road and 34 kilometers Owerri-Orlu Road embarked upon by the administration of Governor Uzodinma would open Imo to other states, boost the state’s economy and change the face of transportation and ease of doing business in the state.
