Chimaobi Ebisike of the People’s Democratic Party has emerged Winner of the Aba North and South Federal Constituency bye election held Saturday.
Declaring the result early Sunday morning, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer for the constituency, Professor Fidelis Okpata of the Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State announced that Chimaobi Ebisike of the PDP polled 10,322 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Mascot Uzor Kalu who scored 3,674 votes.
Candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Destiny Nwagwu, and the Action Alliance candidate, Okey Prestige, polled 1,554 and 199 votes respectively to come a distant 3rd and 4th respectively, while the candidates of the APM and NRM scored 10 and 13 votes respectively.
Though there were areas the APC alleged of manipulations by the PDP, voters and party stakeholders who spoke to PUNCH about the election in the two Local Government Areas expressed satisfaction with INEC for a free and fair polls it conducted.
The final results as announced by INEC early Sunday morning os as follows: Aba North -APC 1630, PDP 4343, In Aba South, it is APC 2044, PDP. 5979.
The overall result for the constituency is APC 3674 and PDP, 10322 votes
