Imo State House of Assembly has thrown their weight behind the Governor,Sen. Hope Uzodinma on his efforts to recover government property which were reportedly in the custody of the former governor,Sen. Rochas Anayo Ethelbert Okorocha and his cronies.
This was as the Assembly also passed a vote of confidence on Go. Uzodinma for his courage and determination to embark on the exercise, and ” for his great accomplishments within one year in office.”
The property included Eastern Palm University, Ogboko, now Kingsley Ozuomba,KO Mbadiwe University and Royal Spring Palm Hotels and Apartments.
This followed the motion moved by Hon. Eddy Obinna, Deputy Majority Leader and member for Aboh Mbaise constituency during the plenary,Monday.
Hon Obinna accused Okorocha of allegedly milking the state dry, stressing that after his eight years reign in the state, the ex governor left the state with no direction and future.
He maintained that, “despite the attendant challenges and setbacks occasioned by the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic that negatively affected the global economy, Uzodinma, since his assumption of office, has effectively delivered good governance and kept to his campaign promises.
“Within this chequered one year of the Prosperity Administration, our Governor has remained focused and effectively delivered on the 3R mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery. Hence, he should be encouraged and supported by all and sundry to do more for Imo people.”
Other lawmakers including Amara Iwuanyanwu, Deputy Speaker, (Nwangele), Uju Onwudiwe (Njaba), Chigozie Nwaneri (Oru East) and Johnson Duru (Ideato North) in their respective contributions, said that the governor has through his laudable achievements so far in office, “proved his critics and oppositions wrong.”
They also applauded Uzodinma for ensuring transparency, accountability, equity in governance as well as provide even infrastructural development in the state, while reiterating the commitment of the Assembly to give him the needed support and cooperation to succeed.
Uzodinma had last Sunday commemorated the anniversary of his one year in office office where he reaffirmed his commitment to better the lots of people.
