Following the emergence of Prof. George Obiozor as the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Imo Diaspora leadership under the aegis of Imo State Diaspora Leadership Forum congratulated him, calling on him to move the nation forward.
The group’s goodwill message was contained in a letter signed by the President General of Imo Diaspora Leadership, Engr. Sampson Udeh and his Secretary-General, Dr. AzukaomaUche Osakwe.
The group acknowledged Prof. Obiozor’s sterling qualities and meritorious services he had rendered to the country as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Israel and Cyprus respectively.
The group encouraged him to rise to the occasion and give the needed leadership to move Igbo Nation forward.
The group also pledged its unflinching support to Obiozor’s administration, especially at the troubling period.
The message reads in parts: “We the executive and members of Imo Diaspora leadership worldwide wish to congratulate you on your emergence as the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide.
“We understand the relevance of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Socioeconomic and political development of Ndigbo.
“We knew your sterling qualities and meritorious services you rendered to the Fatherland while as the former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Israel and Cyprus respectively.
“We believe Ndigbo have entrusted you with the leadership to move Igbo Nation forward. We believe you will lead without fear or favour to tackle myriad problems confronting Igbo Nation in contemporary Nigeria. We believe you will not disappoint us.
“Imo Diaspora Leadership Worldwide also wishes to pledge their unflinching support to your administration, especially at this period Nigeria is at a cross road. It is time that calls for strength in unity”.
The group further seeks a mutual collaboration with Ohaneze Ndigbo, pledging to also contribute their quota to ensure the success of Obiozor’s administration.
