The most popular Okereke Dynasty in Okpala Autonomous Community of Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State has restated the decisions and position of their people as regard to the recent newspaper publications in some Imo based media houses on the purported and illegal presentation of one Obinna Eziakonwa to the Council as the new Eze-Elect.
Speaking against the backdrop of what is described as a gang up by few disgruntled elements to cause cohesion and crisis in the ever peaceful ancient dynasty that ruled the old Owerri Province, Hon. Ezeh Okereke a known Justices of Peace, stated that Okereke Okere is a paramount ruler whose kingdom cut across some part of Ngwa now in Abia State, part of Mbaise and Owerri respectively.
Hon. Okereke further said, that, the late Eze Kene Okereke, a former Secretary to Imo State Government whose official memorial Church Service was held on Sunday,14th February,2021 and thereafter the family will present the new Eze Elect to Okpala Community.
He called on the management of Ngor Okpala Council to disregard the issues of presentation of one Eziakonwa who is not an even a Chieftaincy tittle holder in Okpala and have none genuine means of livelihood.
In his word,” Okereke dynasty is an ancient one, our great grand father is a paramount ruler who appointed community heads that are helping him to rule over the old communities who were giving him periodic reports. Some of these community heads are now respected and traditional rulers of their various autonomous communities. This includes, Oparaocha of Ulakwo, Njamanze of Owerri, Nwaturuocha of Mbaise and many others. Ezeship of Okpala is not rotational. So those cabals talking about rotation and constitution are not even from Okpala. We advise them to trade with caution. Any documents they parade as a constitution of Okpala thst is saying about rotational ezeship is fake”. Hon. Ezeh Okereke.
Contributing, Chief Emma Okereke stated that in the recent autonomous status, Late Eze Kene Okereke was the Okpu 111, he died in 2020, he took over from Late Eze Dickson Anyamele Okereke, Okpu 11, from 1983 to 1992 while in 1979 late Eze Daniel Okereke got the Okpala Autonomous status and was titled the Okpu 1 respectively.
So we have not had any crisis with anybody over the rulership of Okpala Community and never stopped any village or villages that are ready in compliance with the government lay down rules in the creation of new autonomous community.
We therefore warn any impostors to desist from causing crisis in the community and the government should always get the proper truth and avoid supporting evil.
