It was a gathering of who is who in Oru Nation, comprising Oru East and Oru West Local Government Areas, Sunday, December 20, in the palatial home of an Industrialist and a son of the soil, Chief Edozie Evans Onyeako Udenga, to fine tune strategies for grand reception for Governor Hope Uzodimma, slated for tomorrow, Saturday December 26.
The people are planning a grand reception for one of their own, the Governor, to appreciate his impressive performance in office in the last one year.
Declaring the meeting open the host,Chief Onyeako said he was delighted to host his kinsmen, and be part of sons and daughters, planning to honour their illustrious son, the Governor of Imo State, Senator Uzodimma.
He said Governor Uzodimma has performed creditably, despite the daunting challenges he faced on assumption of office, and deserves to be appreciated by his kith and kin with a befitting grand reception for him.
He pledged his support to the Uzodimma administration, and promised to ensure its success.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the event Planning Committee, Chief Lawson Nkem Okafor, said preparations are in top gear for the home coming of the Governor, stating that all hands are on deck to give their illustrious son, , a befitting reception on December 26.
He commended Chief Onyeako for hosting the event, describing him as a worthy son of Oru Nation in whom they are all well pleased.
In his remarks, HRH Eze Festus Orji, the Obi of Otulu Autonomous Community, lauded Onyeako for hosting his kinsmen to plan the hosting of governor of the State.
He said Governor Uzodimma deserves to be honoured by his people because he has performed well in office and made Oru nation proud.
Member representing Oru West LGA, Hon Dominic Ezerioha in his remarks said the grand reception for the governor is part of the commitment of the people of Oru East and Oru West Local governments to honour the governor and commended the host for good gesture.
Among prominent sons and daughters of Oru nation who attended the event include member representing Oru West state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Dominic Ezerioha, State Commissioner for Works, Ralph Nwosu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, Kenneth Okafor Anyanwu, former Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Dominic Ozoemena, ISOPADEC Commissioner, John Kenna Nzeruo President Oru Nation Youth Movement, Prince Chibuike Ogbeama, Uzoma Achilike, President General Autonomous Oru Communities, Dr. Chukwueke John, Mrs Irene Nwachukwu, High Chief Ugochukwu Anyanwu, Hon Chika Ononuju, Hon Barr. Ugochukwu, among others.
The traditional rulers of Oru Nation who graced the event were led by HRH Festus Orji,the Obi of Otulu. Several women and youth groups were also in attendance.
