The November 30 planned resumption date of office by the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Imo State chapter elected under ex- Gov . Rochas Anayo Ethelbert Okorocha administration has been postponed due to the Okigwe North senatorial bye-election.
Making this public in a Press release in Owerri yesterday, signed by the Acting Chairman of 2018 ALGON,Hon. Chinwendu Obinna maintained that the postponement of the planned resumption which was scheduled for November 30 was to pave way for all APC members in the state to fully participate in delivering the party candidate in the Okigwe bye-election, Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume.
The Press release noted ” We therefore call on Imo people to keep faith with us as we join our colleagues in solidarity to ensure the smooth delivery of Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Araraume in the December 5 election.”
The release also made it categorically clear that the Supreme Court judgement of 2019 which confirmed their mandate still stands and that no person can stop them from reclaiming their mandate: “we have already told the world that we are determined more than ever before,to return to our offices in line with all the requisite constitutional provisions. The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is one and the same, there is no part thereof that empowers State Governments to abuse and desecrate them.” the release noted
They appealed to APC supporters and the entire good people of Okigwe to vote for Senator Araraume on the forth coming Okigwe Senate bye- election.
They promised that they will never let the Imo people down for the support and encouragement so far extended to them in the struggle to reclaim their mandate.
