The Imo state Police Command under the watch of the Commissioner of Police,CP Rabiu Ladodo,was on Thursday, November 21th 2019,at State Headquarters Owerri,paraded a total number of 38 persons suspected to be involved in various crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism,unlawful possession of fire arms,assault/attempted murder, burglary/stealing,child trafficking and others related crimes.
According to the release,signed by the CP,he said the successes so far recorded was courtesy of the “Operation Iron Gate”,which was formed as an approach targeted at nipping crime in the state.
The arrest of human traffickers,suspects one Grace Nwachukwu Onuwa,female, aged 25 years, and one Blessing Sunday,female, aged 30 years, was arrested on 5th Nov.2019,based on a tip off at Nma Charity Home Umumkpee Village in Isiala Ngwa South LGA of Abia State,where a total number of 14 pregnant ladies (teenagers) and 4 kids were rescued.
From the rescued pregnant girls, 4 hailed from Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State, 2 from Mbiabong in Uyo Akwa-Ibom State,while the rest of 8 are from Obibgwa/Isiala Ngwa and Bende LGA of Abia State.
The owner of the Hospital (Baby Factory Home),one Mrs.Nma Achumba,was also arrested by the police.
It was also revealed by the police that Mrs.Achumba lured a pregnant mother of twins to Aba Abia State, where a caesarian section operation was carried out on her and the newly delivered baby stolen and sold by the owner of the centre, Mrs.Charity,while one Blessing Sunday, female, a Steward at Nma Charity Home at Umumkpee village in Isiala Ngwa,after the caesarian on her was discharged and her new born taken away from her.
Meanwhile, according to the CP,the most interesting part of the whole story was that the police have arrested all those involved and they shall be brought to book to face the wrath of the law.
“I am appealing to parents not allow their children especially the girl-child to go astray.
It is always your duty as parents and guidance to check and monitor the way-about of your children, teach them the right ways”, he appealed.
