There are signs that Imo people will soon have a reprieve as the Governor Chief Emeka Ihedioha is set to commence massive road construction and repair across the state. The governor had few weeks ago awarded the construction and repairs of some roads assuring that work would start immediately the rains subsides as according to sources within the state government, the governor did not want to start any road work like his predecessor Okorocha while the rains are still heavy.
So with the obvious signs that the dry session has approached, Imo people have already started witnessing some of the contractors moving into sites which is eliciting joy among the citizenry especially car owners and market men and women. For instance, works have started in some roads like Imo State University junction to Chukwuma Nwoha, Control post to Owerri Girls to Ibari Ogwa among others while one of the construction Films CUDUC handling the roads has begun the Asphalt laying on the road along Concorde Hotel Road off Port Harcourt Road. It was however raveled that the contractor handling Control Post to World Bank Road, Toronto axis, Ekemele spot among others will soon move into site as the mobilization fees were said to have been advanced to the contractors by the state government.
Imo people have been passing through difficult times plying the roads in Imo state as a result of its bad state occasioned by either poor construction works by the previous administrations in the state or outright neglect. However, with the Rebuild Imo mantra of the present administration, Imo people are on high expectation that the roads would be fixed this time around and also that quality works will be done on them which will be a departure from what obtained in the past in the state.
