The Commissioner for Education, Prof. (Mrs.) Viola Adaku Onwuliri has tasked the Management of the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo on revenue generation.
Prof. Onwuiiri gave the task in her Office while speaking to the Management of the Institution of the Institution led by the Rector, Dr. Patrick Njoku who paid her a courtesy visit. She emphasized on the need for the Polytechnic to inward and explore all avenues for revenue generation. The Education Commissioner charged the Management to engage in productive ventures and seek for grants and aids from the International Donor Agencies to help it meet some of its challenges.
She said Governor Ihedioha is very much interested in the accreditation of the courses in the Institution, but regretted that in the past eight years no efforts were made to get the courses in the Polytechnic accredited.
Earlier, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Patrick Njoku congratulated the Commissioner on her well deserved appointment assured her of the support and cooperation of the entire Polytechnic Community to enable her succeed. He appreciated the Commissioner for her untiring efforts in ensuring that the Institution does not go into extinction.
The Rector expressed the hope that the Rebuild Imo Government of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha would come to the assistance of the Polytechnic in the accreditation of its courses.
