The state government has declared youth development as one of its cardinal objective of past administration. The state deputy governor made this declaration while speaking on behalf of the Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha during the flagging off of a free training for youths in Mobile Money and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The programme was organized by Imo state Ministry of Technology Development, in partnership with the Iwuanyanwu Foundation, with support from the Ministry of Youths Development.
The deputy governor made it clear that the multiplier effects of the programme which is set to empower over five thousand (5000) Nigerians youths will be tremendous.
He disclosed that the present administration wishes to leverage on ICT to provide jobs for the teeming youths of the state and as well fight insecurity.
The number two citizen of Imo State poured encomiums on Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu for his long standing positive impact in the lives of Nigerian youths.
Recalled that Chief Iwuanyanwu established one of the most successful professional football club sides in Nigeria and Africa in general-Iwuanyanwu National (now Heartland FC) which has transformed the lives of thousands of Nigerian youths and other Africans.
In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Prof Jude Njoku expressed joy that the present government has made youth development/Empowerment one of its priority. He called on the participants to make the best out of the opportunity.
In his address, Engr E.C Iwuanyanwu said he set up the foundation because of his concern for the plight of youths. He challenged participants to utilize the opportunity so they will soon be successful and think of setting up things to help their society, for which they will also be remembered.
He made it clear that any society that does not care for its youths should be ready for doom and expressed his happiness with the present government which he described as God sent to redeem the state from years or maladministration and noted that it is the first in the country to establish Ministry of Technology Development.
