For the second in barely two weeks, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has cleared the hospital bills of 10 additional patients who have been fully treated but could not go home due to inability to pay their treatment bill.
Presenting a cheque of N2.5 million to the hospital management Thursday, Senator Araraume represented by the chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Imo State, Prince Henry Okafor said the gesture was in fulfillment of Senator Araraume’s promise when he visited the hospital few weeks ago. He said Senator Araraume decided to carry out the exercise not for any political reasons but to challenge other well meaning individuals to lend a helping hand to the poor and downtrodden.
Prince Okafor assured that Senator Araraume, who was Imo APGA governorship candidate in the last election, and APGA leadership in the state would liase with the present administration in the state in order to tackle incidents of kidnapping as it affects doctors and other medical personnel in the state while also regretting the kidnap of a doctor at FMC Owerri recently who was later released following Araraume’s intervention.
Responding on behalf the Medical Director of FMC, Dr. Kingsley Achigbu, Dr. Tony Anyanwu lauded Senator Araraume for the gesture, praying God to bless and protect him and his APGA leaders always. He called on other well-to-do individuals and groups to key into such philanthropic activities make live more meaningful for less privileged in society.
Also speaking, a Chief Nursing Officer in the hospital, Acholonu Jacinta thanked Senator Araraume for this large heart describing the gesture as unique given the number of patients and the huge amount involved.
Some of the beneficiaries or patients including Mr. Chibuzo Richard Anyanwu from Obowo and Chukwuemeka Ugwoezu from Amurie, Isu LGA thanked Senator Araraume for his good spirit. Anyanwu whose bill was N120,000 said he had been fully treated after having a surgery but could to go home since one month ago. While Ugwoezu said his bill of N120,000 also now cleared would enabled him go home joyfully.
