The acting Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Imo State branch, Comrade Anthony Mbaise has lauded Gov Emeka Ihedioha for being rule of law and due process compliant in the governing of the state.
Comrade Mbakwe who spoke to journalists in his office in Owerri on his first day in office as the transport boss in the state expressed hope that with the governor style of leadership the state would be rebuilt and returned to its lost glory.
He noted that due process and rule of law remain the strongest bulwarks for the enthronement of good and accountable governance as well as sustenening and deepening democracy, pointing out that no good and responsible governance can take place under a lawless and arbitrary atmosphere
Throwing light on his plans for the union, the acting Chairman who commended his predecessor Comrade Izuchukwu Okebaram for taking the union to higher level, added that his immediate priority is to work towards sustaining the good works of his predecessor.
According to him, just like Comrade Okebaram used the office to rally union members and ensured that peace,harmony and progress reigned supreme,. his major focus for now is to sustain and consolidate on the gains he made.
Comrade Mbakwe who is also the Vice Chairman Park Management Committee reiterated his resolve to sanitize the transport sector in the state in line with the present administration’s rebuild mantra, adding that he is counting on the support and cooperation of the members of the union to achieve the objective.
Noting that the task ahead is enormous the acting Chairman said he is confident that every challenge that his team would face would be surmounted to continue taking the union to greater heights and maintain its good records among labour unions in the state.
