Some Traditional Rulers in Imo state under the aegis of Imo Concerned Forum of Traditional Rulers have called on the Governor of Imo state Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to repeal law No 15 of (2016) and bring back law No 6of (2006) for Traditional Rulers to have the right of place in the scheme of things.
This call was made sense of belonging in during a visit by the Traditional Rulers to Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Uche Onyeagucha at Cabinet Office, Owerri. Addressing them, the Secretary to the State Government, assured them of doing the needful but advised that they as Traditional Rulers should also play their part by making sure that they call on politicians who have taken Ihedioha to court to withdraw their cases to enable the government run a smooth administration. Rt.Hon Onyeagucha urged them to speak out loudly when they see things going wrong.
At the visit were His Royal majesty, Eze Cletus IIomuanya, H.R.H Eze Vincent Ahamefule, H.R.H. Eze Godwin Okwuaka, H.R.H Eze Stephen Ubawuike, H.R.H.Eze Declan Okechukwu and H.R.H Eze Martin Maduabuchi.
The monarchs stated that the law No 15of (2016) was done to favour a particular set of people in the state rather than the interest of everyone in the state especially as it concerns Traditional Rulers.
The Rayal Fathers made it clear that if law No 6 (2006) is brought back the traditional institution would regain its lost glory.
Speaking on behalf of the Traditional Rulers, H.R.H. Eze Anayochukwu Durueburuo reminded the government that there suspension from Ezeship was because they receive President Goodluck Jonathan when he visited Imo state some years back. They called on government to-reinstate the suspended Ezes including Eze Njemanze who died while fighting the injustice.
