Abia is gradually returning to the precarious situation it found itself between 2010-2011 when notorious kidnapping kingpin, Osisi-Kankwu held sway.
Cases of abduction and demand for ransom are gradually coming back in the commercial city of Aba and its environs leaving many residents confused and helpless.
Information reaching Everyday News has it that the retired Head of Service, Osisioma Ngwa LGA, Mr. Christopher Eze Nwokoma was kidnapped Sunday.
He is a native of Umudaba village in Etiti Amavo autonomous community, Osisioma LGA of the state.
Information has it that the retired LGA Head of Service was kidnapped in his village where he went to attend a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday.
Everyday News also gathered that Nwokoma’s kidnap took place few poles to his own house when gunmen in an ash colour Audi 100 came and hurriedly whisked him away.
Also at the weekend, A yet to be identified man was shot in the head by suspected kidnappers in Aba, the commercial hub of the State.
Everyday News gathered from residents that the victim, a tricycle (Keke) rider was shot by the gunmen for refusing to stop and allow them kidnap a certain lady on board his tricycle whom they were trailing.
Apparently angered by the man’s refusal to stop at their command, which led to the lady’s escape they shot the rider on the head, killing him on the spot.
The incident which happened at about Park Road by George’s Street in Aba metropolis, left many residents scampering for safety at the sound of the gun.
The Abia State Police Command said investigations are on to get the culprits Involved in killing of the tricycle operator.
